Summertime in the San Juans is a sight to behold, drawing visitors from all over the world to soak up the beautiful weather and surroundings. While the Pacific Northwest has a blustery reputation when it comes to weather, it is truly spectacular in the spring and summer when the clouds part and the sun returns. Outdoor activities are rampant in the islands during those months, and Lopez Island is no exception! Lopez has quite a few day use parks to enjoy, many including sweeping views of the puget sound, and beach access. Visitors can also plan to camp in Spencer Spit State Park to really immerse themselves in the natural world.

Mud Bay County Park

Calm and protected Mud Bay is a great place for a paddle. You can easily launch your kayak here and if you can carry your motorboat you can launch it too. Upright Channel Park

The Upright Channel recreation site is managed by the Department of Natural Resources (DNR). This day-use recreation site includes four picnic sites and a short trail to a public beach. Shark Reef Sanctuary

Spencer Spit State Park

Located on the north shore of Lopez Island, just south of Upright Head, one mile from Lopez ferry landing, three miles to Lopez Village. Washington State Marine Parks

Marine Parks located in the San Juans include Blind Island, Clark Island, Doe Island, Jones Island, Matia Island, Patos Island, Posey Island, Stuart Island, Sucia Island and Turn Island. Agate Beach County Park

Blackie Bradie Memorial Day Park
